Conquering Your Fibromyalgia Podcast

28

When I started this podcast—and the book that came before it—I had my patients in mind. In the exam room, time is limited. But the need for understanding complex, often misunderstood conditions like fibromyalgia is vast. That’s why I created this space: to offer deeper education, validation, and hope.

If you’ve been told that fibromyalgia "isn’t real'" or that it’s "all in your head," I want you to know: I see you. I believe you. And you're not alone. This podcast is here to affirm what you’ve lived through and to explain the science behind what you’re experiencing.

Whether you're living with fibromyalgia, supporting someone who is, or a healthcare professional seeking to better serve your patients, I hope you’ll find trusted, evidence-based insight drawn from my 28+ years as a medical doctor, pediatrician, internist, lifestyle medicine physician, and clinical lipidologist.

Together, let’s bring compassion and clarity to a condition that’s too often misunderstood—and help make the invisible, visible. You can learn more at www.conqueringyourfibromyalgia.com.

GO TEAM FIBRO - WE GOT THIS!
Dr. Lenz, I cannot thank you enough for your incredible book and podcast. "Conquering Your Fibromyalgia" has become my new bible, and I have referred to it countless times. After 7-8 years of enduring chronic pain and fatigue, I have finally found the right treatment thanks to your insights along with the wonderful guests on your podcast. I am deeply grateful for the time you took to speak with me; I was amazed that you reached out. Thank you for validating my experiences. The stories from your patients are also incredibly relatable. Please keep fighting the good fight! GO TEAM FIBRO! Sincerely, Maria Pippin in Maryalnd

    So grateful for this podcast
Dr. Lenz and his work have been a lifeline for me. Being diagnosed with this mysterious fibromyalgia can make you feel invisible and alone. I felt as though I was left to my own devices until I found this podcast more than a year ago. Dr. Lenz has reputable professionals and FMS patients as guests on the podcast which gives me hope to keep searching for a solution, an answer, and some direction. Of all the medical conditions Dr. Lenz could have chosen, I am grateful that he has laser focused on “Conquering Your Fibromyalgia.”

    I enjoyed it but
You interrupt the women on your podcast so much. The first episode I listened to it was yourself and another male. The male was talking about his severe back pain, and how he made it through all that most of the episode was him speaking however, the next episode, I listened to was you and a female. And it was difficult for me to make it through the episode because she was constantly interrupted and almost the entire interview. Was you speaking when it should’ve been her because the interview was about her book.

    Great podcast
You can learn a lot this podcast on Fibromyalgia. This may come in useful if suffering with it yourself, know someone who is struggling, or are just curious on what it is. Also, guest speaker Luke Thompson was a pleasure to listen to. He is right there is a over arching narrative that can give guidance and hope in this life, namely Jesus Christ. Without Christ and the objective standard and morality that comes from his written word (the Bible), there is nothing but self and random emotions, and we can see how well that is working for society today.

    In-depth into the “unknown”
I have been struggling to find what was wrong with me then to accept it and now to understand it. I found this podcast and started listening to it from the beginning. I’m so glad I did! It gives you finally a perspective that you are not alone and meds are not the only solution. I thank Dr. Lenz because I emailed him with a question and within hours he called me back! You don’t get that service and interest from someone that is not even your doctor. Thank you for caring!

Life Changing Information for our Son - from a Fellow Health Profesional
Dr. Michael Lenz has changed the lives of our family. My 17 year old son has been suffering from Fibromyalgia for over 3 years. However, we didn’t know it was fibromyalgia until about 1 year ago. And to add to that, I’m a pharmacist, who initially even after he was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia was in denial. My Pharmacist training, and just being a father, was set on finding an exact cause of what was going on with my son and fixing it. My son was very active in sports and outdoor activities much of his life. However, after a football injury to his lower leg when he was in 8th grade our journey began. He was complaining of general pain not just in his leg but throughout his whole body. He was having trouble with focusing at school. He was becoming depressed and frustrated that he was not feeling any better. To summarize our experiences I will just list the type of doctors, specialists, and procedures we tried: 1) MRI on injured knee 2) Trip to a Children’s hospital to have a bone biopsy done to rule out cancer 3) Lyme disease test 4) visit to pediactric Rheumatology 5) diagnosis of Hemochromatosis 6) visit to childrens genetic doctor (who made the diagnosis of fibromyalgia) 7) visit to pediatric cardiology 8) visits to chiropractor 9) visits with pediatric phychologist 10) mental health therapy for depression, etc. Overall, almost every test and lab came back normal. There was no explanation for why he was feeling the way he felt. Buying Dr. Lenz’s book ‘Conquering Your Fibromyalgia,’ was life changing as it was like it was telling our story exactly. As a result my son was diagnosed with ADHD, which I was also in denial of as a pharmacist because my son up until recently has always performed well in school and didn’t have symptoms of hyperactivity, etc. However, starting treatment for this has drastically improved his overall general health. Not only can he focus better, but his pain levels have greatly improved, he is getting much more restful sleep, his mood has improved, and most importantly he is feeling normal. I waited a couple of months to post this review because I wanted to give some time to see if this therapy continued to work. I’m happy to say that we are optimistic that our son will continue to improve as it has been almost 3 months with no need to adjust doses, etc. I can’t thank Dr. Lenz enough for doing so much research on this severely under recognized condition. His Podcasts, as well as his book, are full of useful information to help all patients who are suffering from this complicated and frustrating condition. As a fellow healthcare professional, this experience, has greatly impacted my views and treatment options for this condition. Thank you Dr. Lenz for your dedication and expertise in helping to share your important and evolving information to all patients.

    Wrongly Biased Against Atheists
Guest philosopher, Luke Thompson, wrongly speaks for atheists saying they argue life is meaningless, therefore all suffering is meaningless. Nonsense. As an athiest, I believe that your suffering does not come from a sadistic spiritual force. Suffering just is. As an athiest, I agree, I do get to chose what suffering means to me personally. It is not meaningless at all. When we care for each other and help ease one another’s pain this creates positive connection and healing. We learn together, we use our learning to help others. I chose this kind of connection as my meaning in life. Human beings can heal each other and give each other meaning. You have goodness inside you. You are a beautiful, caring creative, loving being and we don’t need an imaginary friend in the sky to give us meaning. You and I are enough. We can create so much beauty and healing together - no matter what your spiritual beliefs are. Let us chose this as our meaning. Connection. Creation. Making beautiful lives, healing, good memories. Together.

    Incompetent
It is convenient to provide a podcast on fibromyalgia when you diagnose every patient you see with ADHD and central nervous pain. Everyone gets Adderall and Gabapentin. Sound familiar. Stay far away.

    Life Changing
This podcast, along with the book by the same name, has helped me immensely. For a very long time I was misdiagnosed or just told there was nothing wrong with me and the only thing I could do would be to take pain relievers. Dr Lenz really open my eyes to it was actually happening with my body and my mind and offered expert advice throughout this podcast on how to get help in different ways I could modify my diet sleep and other key factors. While I’m early in the journey I can say I already feel so much better. Sleeping better and have less pain.

    Helpful and practical
Excellent book. Clearly this doctor is extremely compassionate regarding helping those suffering from a very common however poorly understood disease. Dr Lenz narration was also very easy to follow. Thank you for a great insightful book!

Keep the episodes coming! Love it!
I love the fact that this podcast is led by a highly experienced medical professional. Love his tone, message, and the care he shows for others. I’ve referenced this podcast for others who are looking to gain deeper understanding of Fibromyalgia or are experiencing Fibro- related symptoms. I’ve also purchased and recommended Dr. Lenz’s released book to others - “Conquering Your Fibromyalgia: Real Answers and Real Solutions for Real Pain.” The analogies in his book really help break down the complexity of Fibro into an easy to understand manner. And most importantly, Dr. Lenz provides real solutions!
