EmmetBrickowskiBest Game Design Podcast Out ThereThis Podcast is an amazing and informative show, and I have learned so much from it. I have had an idea for a first person shooter video game for over a year now and have recently got a job to pay for a computer so I can make it. Thank you so much Brian and Ike, you guys are so much fun to listen to. I wish you would come back. I hope you guys read this, thank you.

Ow My HandsHelpful, Smooth, FunBrian and Ike are great hosts, and have great voices for podcasting. Their talk is full of their experience, and has a good balance between theory and practical tips, in my opinion. Also with a good amount of cheesy silliness to oil the drab parts! Shame that this podcast is over, but thankful for the episodes we have!
-
gdacarvI miss you guys so much...New episodes please!
-
enstmagooEndearing and awesomeAlways informational, sometimes corny, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
-
gigabisonInsightful and inspirationalI like to look back on the stepping stones that make me the person I am today. A year from now I hope to consider many lessons I learned from you guys as stepped my stones to being a successful game developer! Thanks!

csundryEntertainingAs an aspiring indie developer, all of your topics are very useful

GrantchoffAmazing ContentSO GOOD. And absolutely worth the time spent listening. I just finished up all the available content on this podcast and, given that the most recent one was published about 2 years ago, I don't anticipate getting any more. If Brian and Ike decide to release any more nuggets of knowledge our way, I'll call it Christmas, but what they've provided through this podcast is already stellar. They focus on the stuff that's timeless, critical in the design of any video game, the formation of any design/development team. They've helped tune my attention to issues that I was missing in my own development efforts. I feel like they've saved me from a few pitfalls, granted me a few shortcuts, and definitely opened my eyes to how much there is to learn. Fantastic podcats. Thank you Brian and Ike, and all my highest recommendations to anyone else who comes across this content.

JakesevzInvaluable ResourceDear Brian and Ike, in the last week or so I marathoned the whole of your 25 episodes and it has been invaluable to me while I drive, work, or generally when I'm not at my computer smashing away at Unity tutorials. I haven't been in the game making world for more than a few months unless you count graphic design, computer science and art classes I took in college. So far my favorite episodes have been the AI episode as well the limitless production episode, as well as the other more conceptual episodes. I was hesitant to even search the podcast app for "game design" shows, and I've listened to a couple and your's stands out the most. I simply couldn't imagine what use the medium could be if I can't directly watch a video. (Maybe a YouTube series could be in the works?) you've tackled the topic like a judo fighter and I'm really enjoying it. Thank you for the awesome show, I look forward to the next episode! --A hobbyist.

twistdroachFun and informativeJust binged through all episodes. Wish there were more. Any thoughts on coming back guys?

Swinlo44Awesome podcast...hopefully will returnAs a hobbyist who noodles around with game dev this is one of my absolute favorite podcasts. Great insight and tips from Brian & Ike. Hopefully will return when Source is out!

Basher207Thank you :DDIt honestly blows my Mind that people as experienced as yourselves to make this free podcast! I just discovered this a few weeks back and already watched all the episodes :DD This is a great resource, and motivator to put you in the game making mood in the car before getting home to my work station. This has literally pulled me out of a slow stump of a month after releasing a couple of builds for my game that were littered with design issues, to the point of feeling hopeless. But thanks to this podcast helping us get back into the zone, we pulled through 😊 I wish when I (if I) get as experienced as you guys, ill put in the time to help other less experienced fellows :D

F1shbulbInformative and inspiringI like how the deeper theory discussions seem to flow out of casual conversation. It makes for a better balance than other podcasts, which can just be listening to two people shoot the breeze on one side or one person getting overly technical on the other. There is also a good balance between theory and the reality of running an indie studio, and the real-life narrative is interesting. I binged once I found it and haven't come across a good replacement. Would love to here more.
-
Stu (the Wild Card)Excellent listening materialI’ve recently binged your podcast and have really enjoyed the discussion. Would love to hear you guys talk about the topic of “Boss Fight Design” in a future episode.
-
Anony_Mouse316Notice me, Brian & Ike sempai!I love your podcast. It certainly helps keep the Indie Dev fire stoked. Your experience in the field is invaulable. Could you make an episode dedicated to "Advertising" and "Managing the game after release".
-
Dagra27407Great ShowI found this show a month ago and am now 19 episodes into listening to all of their episodes. Awesome show that is very informative.
-
R2 migInformative and EntertainingAwesome podcast to listen to if you are learning about game design. I started listening with a rough idea for a game and the discussions have helped to shape it. They look at concepts from 10000 ft as well as the nitty-gritty. Awesome work guys. Thanks for putting this out there!
-
1287642871634Pure gold!As someone who is breaking into game development this podcast is perfect for me. I love that they talk about play theory and not so much the technical side of things, since there are plenty of tutorials on the latter. Keep up the awesome work guys!
-
DocmackeyNo fluff! This is one of my favorite podcasts of any genre. I take something away from every episode and I feel as I continue learning game design, I can listen to them again and still pull useful info from each episode. On top of all that they are quite entertaining to boot. Good times.
-
TWalk007Great insight and entertainingThe guys are enjoyable to listen to and have a lot of good insights into the game development industry. I appreciate the great info! Keep it up guys! More podcasts please :)

Bryan & Ike talk about Game Design & The things about Game Industry, Game development with such passion that it really inspire me & it has been really educational for a wannabe game designer, like me, with limited resources to learn from..!

shad0fx (Joe)Great show.I’m into catching up on the older episodes. on Episode 10 so far! If your looking for a show about the grit behind game development with a lot of honesty. You’ve found it. Brian, and Ike provide great content and subject manner. I’m excited to hear more from these guys. a Question to the Guys. While I haven’t caught up too far to the episodes. I’d be interested in your thoughts on rapid prototyping and Game Jams.
-
NBC subscriberGreat conceptual discussionThe guys cover a broad range of game dev topics. They are knowledgable and move well between the macro-concepts and micro-concepts of game making.
-
Winston MillerKeep it up!Hey guys, just finished binge listening to your podcasts, and found your conversations fun and interesting. I believe you mentioned it once, but I'd love to hear you guys talk about the importance of story in video games. (Is it important?) Thanks and I hope to hear more from you guys.
-
JJbKrazyAwesome!Just starting out an indie company and love your content! Gimme more!

TRAVISlolzInsightful and EntertainingFound these guys today while at work and ended up listened to their 3 most recent episodes. I am hooked!
-
Darius DrakeSolid and Smooth--Just make it deeperThis is a great podcast overall! The pace tends to be a little slow for me, but not much, and some of the episode talk is redundant at times. Good topics. The focus is toward Mobile Market specifically, with Indie stuff in general. Overall, informative and enjoyable. I'd just like the topics to get a little deeper.
-
Behnke101Great insight to indie devs with AAA experienceFirst thank you for doing this podcast. It has helped me while starting my company Metamorphic Games. Although we have developers here in Milwaukee WI it's not like it is on the east and west coast. You guys give great information on the industry and it helps out a lot. Maybe a thought for future episodes would to take games that are out and break them down to the good, the bad, and the ugly. Keep it up! Great podcast!!
-
cfarley89Entertaining and informativeIke and Brian do a great job presenting the tough decisions, mistakes, and situations that designers find themselves dealing with all the time. Some of the information I found most useful dealt with issues I might not have thought about during my game design process like dealing with sound and score for my games when i might not have a composer on my team or avoiding the hard pitch to investors in favor of making a lasting mutually beneficial relationship. I even got to ask them a question and they responded almost immediately. Great podcast from two guys who really want to help aspiring designers

AndyM76Experience is everything...Industry vets doling out wisdom for the next generation of greats. In a way, this is a love letter to game development… showing how deeply it can be rooted in your life, once you commit yourself. And in another way, it’s like Brian and Ike are passing the torch to the up-and-comers… and giving them enough advice to not burn themselves. The first few episodes had some rough spots, but they quickly hit their stride and are churning out some really useful and topical tips. My only suggestion at this point… Guest hosts?? [hint, hint] ;)
-
K_Frizzle92Awesome stuff!Just listened to all the episodes! I'm brand new at making games and you guys are helping me a ton!
-
TeoBenthamWell-put together and PracticalDon't get me wrong, I appreciate and even love some of the other game dev and game design 'casts, but this is definitely one of the better-thought out, pragmatic, and practical series out there. Lookin' forward to more episodes from ya'll.
-
TheBestIronManEverGreat stuffThanks for sharing your knowledge in such a competitive field as game development. Really enjoying the podcast and have applied some of your ideas to our mobile games.
-
RemsHeartsGamesGreat resource! This has become my favorite podcast. Keep up the great work guys! More stuff like the camera, levels, etc.
-
BasaltguyGreat podcast and one questionI'm really enjoying this podcast. You guys boil everything down to the basics of game design. I do have a specific question for you. I'm a young musician who plans on majoring in music composition and was wondering if you had any experience working with composers for your games. I'd be interested not only from a game design standpoint but also their role as part of the development team and in the overall project. I would really like to hear what you have to say on this topic.
-
xKilgannoNxFavorite podcast about game development!!Tl;dr - this is the best game dev podcast. Period. Listen ASAP. Read on for the in depth review. Hey guys, as you know I'm a long time listener, and apparently now a reviewer. I hope this review appears near the top so people can see that this is THE podcast to check out if you are serious about game development or even have a passing interest in the subject matter. Maybe you want to understand what it is your significant other is droning on about when they say they are an "indie developer". Well, listen and learn. Ike and Brian have great talks on topics (and off topic) involving the ever changing game industry and their insight is absolute gold. The episodes are always a great source of inspiration to push you over that one day you had no focus on your project. I sit down after listening to the newest episode and just slam through the creative block. Keep on killing it guys. It's like Christmas opening my podcast app and seeing a new episode.
-
3 steps behind youLove this podcastThis is exactly what was missing in the podcast market. I felt like I have learned a lot from podcasts from marketers, enterpreneur businesssmen, programmers, ASO specialists, publishers...but I felt like design was the missing piece. I listen on Stitcher and had looked for "app development design" before and got nothing related. I was so glad when this popped up earlier this year. I like the over reaching topics. I like hearing your personal experience. I like hearing your tangents. I am a happy listener.
-
KurtWMFun, enriching podcastKnowledgable, experienced hosts make for a well put together, educational podcast.
-
TackemonAmazing resourceI started from the first episode and am almost up to the latest one. Brian and Ike are very generous with their knowledge of game design and have an approachable, casual tone without getting too serious. This isn't so much textbook/academic/theory stuff, it's really pragmatic, in-the-trenches stuff that applies to just about any game. I love the mix of the abstract concepts and really specific examples. I love their choice of topics so far. They dig right into the important stuff. I get a laugh at the number of times Brian says "or something." It's not annoying, more just amusing. If there was a Game Design Dojo drinking game where you had to take a shot at every time he says "or something", it'd get ugly fast! Or something.
-
WordbufferGods combination of game-focused chat and insightful commentaryThanks guys, really appreciate the podcast. Would like to hear a detailed walk through the development of a single game from design through ship.
-
meowingtons2121Keep It Up!Really enjoy the discussions guys, very enlightening. Binge listened to every episode and have a whole new perspective on game design.
-
MaJellin24I'm a fanThis podcast is easy to listen to and I've been able to pick up some good pointers. Sometimes gets a little off track but it's because the hosts are passionate about games.
-
B.r.i.z.Great PodcastGreat dialog and knowledgable hosts. Makes my commute go by quicker. I would like to here more on the process and woes of being an indie developer. But it is a design podcast so that might be out of scope.
-
RabesfistGreat startLove the topics so far, would be great to hear some more in depth detailed examples from your experience or games in the market. Solid start, keep it up.
